Summer Cleaning 07/31/2010
It seems that no matter how hard you clean there is always more to clean and do. I have started going through things that no longer fit any of us and the kids only to find more stuff than I realized that I had. I am not sure if any of you can relate but I counted over 76 pairs of socks, who in the world keeps that many pairs of socks. I even found 3 sets of tennis shoes, two dress shoes, three flip flops, two slip on shoes (like evening shoes) etc..and that was just mine. We have kept the kids clothes and when we find a bargain we pick things up but now we have sizes for the next several years. Thus has started my boxing, labeling and putting things in tote for storage. I have over 19 pairs of blue jeans different styles from the faded stone wash to old glory. This is a little excessive so we have decided to downsize the things that are not mandatory and necessary for our living. I have several bags of clothes to take to charity and things that we have just picked up and held onto through out the years trying to simplify our lives. And all this was just mine. Next my wife will help me go through her things as well. Trying to de-clutter our lives as much as possible. You know this reminds me of our relationship with God. We have to let go of the old things in our lives, the things that hold us down and clutter our lives to make room for the new. We are to become more Christ-like and be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Our lives should reflect our relationships. We thought about having a garage sale but I felt better knowing that some of these things we will be sending to people who need them and could use them. Hope everyone has a great weekend ~ Add Comment |
