Another Hot Day 07/16/2010

This weather is crazy.  We have had a couple of heat advisories over the past couple of days and it has been hot.  Not that the temp had been outrageous but the humidity is such that it leaves you drenched with perspiration when you go out even for a few minutes.

My kids love the park and want to go all the time. I wish we actually had a swing set in our own yard that way they could run and play here but we make our faithful trips to the park just about daily if not every other day so they can run and play.  I had mentioned to my kids earlier in the week that it was just too hot to go to the park and that we had a heat advisory and that it was not safe to be outside in this heat.  To which my daughter replied, " "Daddy talk to God and tell Him its too hot outside we want to go to the park." and little Randall Dale (nephew) was just shaking his head yes.......

There is more truth to her statement than you know.  It is in times of need that we often search out God for answers and comfort.  But what about the times in our lives when things are going ok.  I know for me there are more times that I find myself seeking God than when things are good and I have had to make a conscious decision to seek Him daily.  I am not perfect God knows but in any kind of relationship it takes work even with our heavenly father.  You see God did not create us the same He desires an intimate relationship with each of us.  I am just grateful that my daughter understood that when you are in a situation call on God.  Although her request may be a bit much or is it?  I mean we should include God in everything, maybe she knows more than I do about putting God first.

I decided to go to my daughter and ask her to pray with me to God about the heat and explaining that she would love to go to the park but it is too hot to take the kids out.  You know what I walked away from that prayer feeling much better and feeling good that I connected to God even in something that I had thought was trivial.  My daughter said, "See daddy God's listening" and you know what I know that He is.
